CRISIS
For LSEMUN February 2025, Abbas will be leading a crisis simulation on the escalating US-China trade war, set in 2025. The committee will dive into the complexities of trade tariffs, technological competition, and geopolitical tensions that have driven the two superpowers to the brink of economic conflict. Participants will navigate rapidly evolving diplomatic standoffs, as both nations grapple with internal pressures and a shifting global landscape. Delegates will engage in strategic decision-making, balancing national interests with global repercussions. Along with this, Delegates will also address underlying issues like supply chain security, intellectual property disputes, and eventually, military escalations in the South China Sea. This crisis will challenge delegates to explore diplomatic, economic, and militaristic levers to manage a conflict that risks reshaping the international order! I promise- it's not as boring as it sounds!
GREETINGS FROM THE CRISIS DIRECTOR
Syed Mohammad Abbas Akbari
Hi everyone! My name is Abbas and I will be your Crisis Director for the US-China Trade War! Having just graduated with a Civil Engineering degree, I am now studying Finance for my Master's at the University of Manchester- yes, I pivoted. Other than drowning in MUN, I do have a life outside of this! If not in MUN, you'll find me hiking in the Peak district, flying planes on my flight simulator, or playing my guitar. Anyway, can't wait to see you!
